Before God

Irrespective of the religion, irrespective of presence or absence of an idol, when one is before God, I see the same expression on the faces of all of us. The eyes are in a trance, the body has submitted to the God we are praying to.

Prayers in all religions are a combination of more than one bodily senses. There are words to the prayers; there are these visuals that a religious place brings before us.

Prayers try to stimulate these senses and help us focus. Focus on our God. Focus on what we want from him. Focus on the changes we want in our lives.

Across all religions and beliefs, the prayers to God outside only help us stimulate the God within us.

Purity

What is purity? It is the existence of the singular.

Purity is God. Purity is peace. Purity is the strength of a mother. Purity is Krishna in the eyes of Meerabai. Purity is the sun uniting with the sea. Purity is the shadow of the trees. Purity is the showers of the rains. And it is the earth that ignites with passion when these first drops of rain fall on her

Purity is patriotism, love, ambitions. Purity is hatred too. Purity is the pure black of the night. Purity is the fear of death.

Purity is universal. It stands between you and me. In fact, purity lies within you and me.

God and Man - Poem

the ant walking down
the dog playing around
the kid’s gleaming eyes
the old lady so nice
they are all God!

the flowers that sway
grey clouds far away
the fishes that swim
rivers full to the brim
they are all God!

the beggar, the giver
the mountain, the river
the father, the mother
the enemy, the brother
the dead cat, the angry lion,
the rabbit, the Hindu,
the Muslim , the astronaut,
they are all God!

just that a man
loves to classify
right and wrong
pure and infidel,
he’ll always keep them different
a rabbit as a rabbit
a flower, a flower!
